Long, long ago in a galaxy far, far away! Well actually it was 2002 and it was in our little corner of the galaxy.. The Lone Wolves Flight Squadron was born.

The LW Squad was formed in 2002 when six core members broke off from another IL2 squad and decided to form our own squad, the name Lone Wolves came from how we felt at the time.. it was fitting so we adopted it as our own!

Our squad was formed as a flight squadron and we focused on flying mainly in IL2 Sturmovik. At the height of IL2's popularity the LW commanded a very strong presence and respect in the game and boasted over 50 members. We held high standards for membership, and still do. Our membership would meet weekly for training and tactics using voice comms, then we would use that training against our own teams or other squads in scrimmages.

But time and priorities in people's lives change, this is so in our squad as well as any other squad we have seen through the years. As IL2 started to age, more and more membership started to turn to other games and interests. We still play lots of other games, but we also still consider the LW a Flight Squadron.

Many of our members have been able to meet in the real world, with the largest meeting happening in 2005. Sixteen LW came together for a weekend during a flightsim convention in Blackpool, England . It was truly a historic event!

Mostly, the LW are friends!! That is what brought us together, and that is what keeps us together!

So there you have it. A bunch of guys and gals playing and flying around the internet.. Hey it keeps us out of the bars and pubs, right?!?
